On Saturday 3 July, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince officially opened the new Larvotto beach resort. H.E. Mr Pierre Dartout, the Minister of State and ministers Ms Marie-Pierre Gramaglia and Mr Jean Castellini were present along with several Monegasque dignitaries.
Mr Jean-Luc Nguyen, Director of Public Works, introduced the Sovereign Prince to the resort’s new spaces and facilities. The visit incorporated meetings and discussions within the various shops and restaurants. Among many others, the Prince also met Pierre Frolla at the Ecole Bleue diving school, members of Monaco City Hall at the Crèche and the SeaWergie team for a presentation about the ocean thermal energy loop, which will provide heating and air conditioning for the entire district, including the resort’s shops. The visit concluded with the dedicated Handiplage site for people with disabilities or reduced mobility.
The resort opened to visitors at 12 p.m. on the same day. It was an opening that had been highly anticipated by Monegasque nationals and residents, who will be able to enjoy a bigger beach, renovated promenade and the resort’s ‘historic’ beach operators, restaurants and shops this summer season.
Renovation of the site will be completed in early 2022. Architect Renzo Piano is behind the design, which is a continuation of the contemporary, clean look of the offshore extension project. The aim of the renovation is to make the beach and the surrounding area a pleasanter environment, offering high-quality, accessible and convivial public spaces.
