Measures implemented for the celebration of National Day 2020

In order to take into account the health rules imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, H.S.H. Prince Albert II wanted the programme for the 2020 National Day to be adjusted appropriately.

To this end and in order to limit travel as much as possible, only people residing in the Principality and its surrounding area have been invited.

The diplomatic and consular corps will be represented by the Dean and Deputy Dean of the diplomatic corps in the Principality, the President of the Association of Honorary Consuls of Monaco and non-resident Ambassadors of Monaco. The reception of the diplomatic and consular corps is cancelled, as well as the musical firework display at Port Hercule.

The ceremonies for the presentation of the Medals of Labour and Medals of Honour by H.E. the Minister of State are also cancelled. Recipients will receive their medals accompanied by a letter either at their home or at their company.

As far as Monegasque seniors are concerned, the parcels which are usually given to them at the Foyer Rainier III will this year be delivered directly to their homes.

All award ceremonies with H.S.H. the Prince will take place in the Cour d'Honneur without a reception at the end. Medals will be awarded individually, the wearing of a mask is compulsory.

The Sovereign also wished that those who have been particularly involved in the fight against the epidemic be honoured. Accordingly, a Covid-19 award has been created.

The recipients will be honoured at a ceremony at the Palace of Monaco on Monday 16 November 2020.

On Thursday 19 November the Te Deum mass will begin at 10.00 am, the number of masked guests has been halved.

For the same reasons and in order to respect distancing and restrict movement, the changing of the guard and the parade traditionally held in the Palace Square are cancelled.

The changing of the guard in the main courtyard is, however, to be maintained. It will take place this year at the end of the religious ceremony and by invitation only.

The concert by Cecilia Bartoli and the Prince's musicians, scheduled at the Grimaldi Forum, will also be limited to 500 guests (permitted numbers reduced by two-thirds).
