Centenary Rainier III 1923- 2023

The commemorations of the Centenary of the birth of Prince Rainier III have begun on May 31st 2023, the day He was born in 1923, to pay tribute to the Prince, head of State, passionate man and family man. The year 2023 will allow us to celebrate His memory, to make His work known to the younger generation and to remember the man who dedicated His life to the service of the Principality.

Key dates and figures :

• 1949-2005 : 56 years, the longest personal reign of the princes of Monaco
• Builder : extension of the Principality peacefully with huge works :  Larvotto beach (1965), Sporting d’été (1974 ),  Fontvieille (1974 ), underground of the railways (1966) and the railway station ( 1999) ,
• Precursor : development of business & leisure tourism with the creation of the Rainier III Auditorium  (1974) and then the Grimaldi Forum (2000)
• Visionary : new constitution in 1962, reviewed in 2002 (97 articles against 58 in the one of 1911)
• International recognition : member of  the United Nations Organisation / in 1993 and of the European Council in 2004
